Busy...busy...

Wow! We have booked more sessions this week through the end of November than ever! Michelle &Jennifer have been very busy on the phone & email trying to get everyone in! Our holiday 2009 sessions are getting VERY LIMITED so if you would like one I would call soon. We need to make these appointments over the phone because by the time we email them they are gone. The deadline to ensure portraits are back by the holidays is November 25th.

Don't forget that in the month of September all law enforcement, military and firefighter families will receive a free sitting at Capture Today along with an additional discount on their portraits as a thank you for doing what you do!!

Halloween Charity event! When?!? October 2nd & 3rd. We have just a few time slots left on each date. We will be partnering with the Omaha Food Bank this year. Donating will waive your sitting fee & give you extra special discounts on the portraits! Packages start at $25.00. These are very quick sessions...just a few quick pics & then you order your package if you would like to the same day. There is no obligation to purchase anything...this is just for donations & for fun!

Well this the season...we are swamped! I just finished up our last bit of fall modeling sessions today, I believe Pam has one more this week...so if you are interested in a modeling session with us please email in & we will add you to the list for the 2010 list. We will not be doing anymore modeling sessions for 2009 as the schedule will just not allow it ;-) Thanks to all of you in 2009 who helped me out trying out new sets, etc! I truly appreciate your help! It has paid off!

Gift Certificate Give Away!

A few months back we held a contest...the contest was that one of my current clients needed to write me a short email telling me why a friend, family member, co-worker, etc. deserved a free $100 gift certificate to Capture Today! We had a HUGE response...all of the entries were very touching and it was hard to narrow it down to one winner. But..we did. From that we have added a WONDERFUL family to Capture Today as a Through the Years member. We won't tell you their story however....a time in their life that was shared with me through a hardship touched my heart very deeply . It breaks my heart why I chose them to be the recipient of the gift certificate but I am humbled that after the give away they chose me to continue to take future portraits of their family and watch their baby girl grow up through the years with them!

With that said...let's do it again!!!

Looking for baby girls 5months to 1 year

We are trying out a beautiful new theme...Autumn Flower pot babies & angels! I am looking for about 15 baby girls ages 5 months to 1 year. This is a modeling session so you do not have a sitting fee and are not required to order anything from the session, if you do they are discounted.....you don't even have to view the final portraits if you don't want too :-) This is simply for us to try out some new things! We would like to do these portraits on these dates & times....

I would like to give a very warm WELCOME TO THE WORLD to Alexia Rae. Alot of you know that Michelle (office manager) was going to be a grandma this summer....and her precious little grandbaby has finally arrived! Alexia holds a very special place in my heart, as I have known this fantastic family since I was 17. I met Alexia's mom when she was just 2 years old..and here she is the mother of this beautiful baby girl...I feel so old but also so humbled that I have watched Lindsey grow up into the amazing woman that she is and now welcoming her first baby into this world. What a lucky baby to be born into such a beautiful family...that I am also lucky to be so much a part of for all of these years! We have had SEVERAL request from our current clients for some fast, fun, affordable sessions with no stress! So we are going to try this out & if it goes well we will add this session to our session list.
How does this work....
1. Make an appt & tell us what backdrop you like & what your child will be wearing.
2. Come in, we'll do a very quick, but still quality portrait, sessions
3. You will view them before you leave with one our staff
4. You will order before you leave (please bring someone with you to keep the kids entertained while you are ordering or they may sit in our waiting room & play)
5. You will have your portraits (package discounts available for great savings) within 10 days ready to pass out to family & friends.

Spend 30 minutes with us or less & you will be DONE with your portrait session!
To kick this off we will be offering the following dates & times. There is NO SITTING fee for these sessions & no minimums, however a small portrait package for each client is required.

Everything is changing...

First I want to thank all of my wonderful clients. Even with the economy scare we have more business than ever! So THANK YOU! As alot of my current clients know I have been doing double the amount of sessions I normally have in the past. Why? Well because I don't like to turn anyone away and I also have so many new ideas & sets that we have been doing an above average number of modeling sessions. However this has left me working 18+ hour days and pretty much 7 days a week. Even though I love my job, this is not fair to my family so I knew I had to do something. Some of you that have been with me for a long time also know that I have had other staff in the past but have brought it back to just Michelle & I for the past few years. Well....with our business tripling this year (in the past 6 months) I have come to the reality that I can not do this alone anymore. So here are the changes that are going to be made which will be better for all of us!!!!

I have hired a new photographer. Well actually she is not a "new" photographer. She has a few years of experience & will be continually trained by myself to ensure that we are both working to the best of our ability on the latest trends in photography. She will be using the same sets as I do as well as equipment. I know the first question that will be asked is if her work is just like mine. Simple answer - NO. I do not feel that any two photographers can be the same. I do feel her work is similiar to mine though. Pam actually worked for me a few years ago at the studio as a photographer. She did a wonderful job but long story short she had 3 little ones at home and needed to give them more time than the job was allowing her. She did continue to do photography at another local studio as well on her own while she was away. Now her little ones are off to school so Pam is back with me at Capture today & I couldn't be happier to welcome her back.

We are going to try & keep all refered clients with me if they are my clients referal and Pam's referals with her. We do have so many random calls and emails though for clients that don't know how they heard about us and all of those clients will go with whomever has an opening for their 1st appt. This should really help my schedule so it doesn't take so long for our current clients to get in or back in if they have to reschedule.

Pam will also be doing pet portraits, large group portraits, additional outdoor portraits as well as high school seniors. These are all areas, with the exception of outdoor portraits, that I have not been offering in the past.

Office help! Well if you are a client of mine you know that I answer emails pretty much from 7am to sometimes 2am!! And sadly those time frames are not just random that is pretty much solid work time with a few little breaks to say hello to my kids and husband. I have been burning the candle at both ends, especially the last 6 months and I need to make changes. With the addition of Pam we are also adding on an additional office manager. Jennifer brings us MANY YEARS of experience in the photography business and I am so excited to welcome her on! Michelle will continue to run the office as well but on a more part time basis than in the past so she can spend more time with her new grandbaby. Watch our blog for some pictures of Michelle's new addition to her family! Crystal will also continue to work in the office on Saturday's. We will be open many more hours than we have in the past which I am sure will be appreciated by many!

So...with all of this office help I will no longer be handling any office correspondance. I am handling all of that over to the girls in the office so I can spend more time with my children and also more of my time focusing on doing the portraits and proofing, which is why you come to me in the first place, right? The girls in the office will handle all customer service & lab issues.

I don't imagine we will be growing much beyond this because I would still like to remain a small, personal studio that knows your family by name!!! As my daughter's dance teacher always states "Large enough to serve you but small enough to know you!" and I like that motto!!!

I have to say that I am humbled by how this business has grown and the response we get from word of mouth!!! I have the very best clients & I appreciate you all so much more than you know!!!!
